April 19, 2010 —

Troy, NY – An interview with Smith & Jones’ Principal Artist and co-founder Sara Tack was recently featured on the AIGA Upstate New York web site. In the interview, Tack discusses her career, the decision to start Smith & Jones, her sources of inspirations, challenges faced by women designers, and offers advice to young people entering the graphic design business. The full interview can be found here.

“This interview allowed me to share my thoughts and ideas with members of the AIGA – a community I’ve been involved with most of my career,” Tack said. In addition to her role with Smith & Jones, Tack is SVP of Image and Identity for Wanderlust, and an adjunct professor at Rensselaer (RPI) where she teaches identity design, color theory, advanced typography and publication design. “AIGA helps keep me informed and feeling connected to the design community at large, while providing a forum to connect with designers on the local level,” Tack explains. “It’s one of our best, all inclusive resources for design education, history, current debates and relevant issues surrounding our profession.”
